A Monroe piercing is a labret facial lip piercing which is located in the soft flesh just above the upper lip, just like Marilyn Monroe's classic beauty mark was located. Often a Monroe or Labret piercing is performed using a very small stud, thus the resemblance to a beauty mark. This piercing is also known as a Madonna piercing, referencing too another famous female with a distinctive beauty mark.

The Monroe piercing should be considered as an oral piercing, so aftercare instructions should include steps to maintain good oral health.
